Philly’s legacy in rock runs deeper than the early days of Bill Haley, Frankie Avalon, and American Bandstand. A new book, When We Rocked, shines a light on the city’s underappreciated role in shaping disco, hard rock, heavy metal, and grunge, told through dozens of musician interviews.
SEPTA’s looming service cuts and fare hikes are just days away, with the city revealing its plan to brace for the impact. Riders can expect a 45% service reduction starting August 24th, a 21.5% fare increase on September 1st, and a 9 p.m. rail curfew come January 2026.
